2021 Summer Basketball Evaluations!

Summer Basketball Evaluations will be held this upcoming Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!

All players are expected to attend evaluations at the starting time and your child's age group indicated below.  You must be a paid registered player to attend these evaluations.

Saturday, June 19 at 9:00 AM for 8-10 year old.

Monday, June 21 at 6:00 PM for 11-12 year old.

Tuesday, June 22 at 6:00 PM for 13-14 year old.

Wednesday, June 23 at 6:00 PM for 15-18 year old.

These evaluations will consist of shooting, dribbling and defense drills.  The purpose of this evaluation is to allow the coaches to evaluate players to assist them in making their player selection when forming teams at the conclusion of these session.

Due to COVID-19 mandates by the City of Philadelphia protective facial masks are to be worn by all inside the gymnasium.  In addition, the gymnasium capacity is limited to a total 50 people at any given time.

Please bring your signed “COVID-19 Disclosure Agreement” form that must be completed by the parent/guardian.  It can be found here covid19disclosureagreement08012020.doc.pdf.  This is a mandatory requirement for all children who desire to play summer basketball.  As an alternative, if you are unable to attend this evaluation, you can scan your completed "COVID-19 Disclosure Agreement" and email it to Joe MacFarland at [email protected].

Please contact Joe MacFarland, our Summer Basketball Director, should you have any questions at [email protected].

2021 Summer Basketball Registration is Now Closed!

Posted June 6, 2021

Summer Basketball registration will begin on Monday, May 1 and will end on Saturday, June 5 at 11:45 PM.  Please note that once registration is closed, we will only reopen to round off teams!  This is a fun summer league for girl’s and boy's ages 8 through 18.  Summer basketball season runs from July through the end of August.  See age cutoff dates below.

Both boys and girls must be born between the dates of August 1, 2002 and July 31, 2013
All players will be required to provide a copy of their birth certificate for proof of age prior to the start of the season.

Summer Basketball Registration Fee is only $65!

PLEASE NOTE:  We will not offer a separate girl's league due to the historical low participation and the limited indoor gymnasium time being offered due to the COVID-19 restrictions that the City has imposed.  Instead, we are offering coed enrolment for this season.  Girls that wish to play will be placed on a team for that age group that will include boys.  In addition, we combine the 17/18 years old group with the 15/16 years old group.

Registration will close on Saturday, June 5 at 11:45 PM.  Don’t wait until the last minute to register.  Divisions when filled will close.  Your child will be placed on a waiting list if the division closes before the official registration closing date and time.  We then wait until we have enough players to form another team before releasing those on the waitlist to a team.  Payment will then be required IF released from the waitlist to a team position.

The season starts after Independence Day, Monday, July 12th and runs through to the end of August.  Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  Thursday will be used for rainout make up games.  All games will be played on the two (2) outdoor basketball courts located on the Fox Chase Elementary School property, near the hockey rinks.  Games times to start at 6:00PM, 7:00PM and 8:00PM.  The younger teams tend to play first.

PLEASE NOTE:  Unlike winter basketball, the outdoor basketball rims cannot be lowered.  They are fixed at the official height.  That is why this summer program is not offered to the younger players.

New to coaching?  If so, you will require a State background check.  Please visit our "Background Checks" page for details and to acquire them free of charge.  We are unable to accept any volunteers without acceptable cleared background checks.

Please contact Joe MacFarland, our Summer Basketball Director, should you have any questions at [email protected]

How to Register!

To register for any sport with the Fox-Rok Athletic Association go to www.foxrokaa.com and click on “Register” that is located in the upper right hand corner of our home page.   You will then need to click on “Create New Account or “Login” if you have already created an account.  As a reminder, you must first have an account before you can register your child/children.  The process is easy.

Once you have created an account, you then need to list your child/children before you can choose a program to play in.  Select “Add Participant.”  Enter the child’s name and complete all of the required fields.  If you have more children to register, don’t select “Next.”  Select “Add Another Participate.”  Once you have added all of your children you should select “Next.”

After you have entered all of your children only then will the system allow you to select the available program for that child or children.  Make your selection.  Continue to complete the necessary fields until you have completed your order.  Registration payments are made with MasterCard or Visa online at time of registration.  You will receive an email confirmation after you have successfully completed the process.

After the first time you register your child/children the system will remember your information!  You will only need to update a few lines as opposed to starting from scratch when registering for all other Fox-Rok sports.

Please note, if you want to coach or volunteer in any way you must create an account online and state your interest.  The program is set up to ask if you have a desire to volunteer and in what role.

To get on the mailing list you must create an account online.

If you experience any difficulties in registering and require assistance, please call 866.981.2583 during normal business hours.

Concerning Registrations!

Registration cutoff dates are established mainly to ensure that uniforms and the necessary equipment needs can be identified and ordered in time to be received before the start of the playing season.  This is the case for each sport offering at Fox-Rok A.A.  Occasionally we have situations where we may require additional players to prevent a team or teams from folding and will solicit players by posting these openings on our website.  That is the only time we will accept registrations after the established cutoff date.  This website provides ample notice time for registration of all sports.  On our website, at the top of each sport page, it states the month of when registrations are held and the duration of the season.  It is provided for your planning purposes.

All players will be required to provide a copy of their birth certificate for proof of age prior to the start of the season.

Winter Basketball Update!

Updated November 12, 2019

Winter basketball registration is now closed.  Teams are presently being formed for the ages 5 through 10.  In addition the girls’ teams are also being formed.  Coaches will be contacting parents within the next couple of weeks.

If a coach has selected your son for a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation team for ages 9 through 14, you can expect to receive a telephone call from a coach this week.

If your son was not selected for a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation then he should plan on attending the evaluations for the Northeast Basketball League teams that will be held this upcoming Saturday, November 16th in the gymnasium at the Fox Chase Playground, located at 7901 Ridgeway Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111.  Every child will be placed on a team.  These evaluations will held at the following times:

Saturday, November 16

11 and 12 year old boys at 9:00 AM

13 and 14 year old boys at 10:00 AM

15 and 16 year old boys at 11:00 AM

Please be sure your son attends the correct evaluation slot.  Whatever age your son is on August 1, 2019 that is the age group he will play in. Registrations will be checked at these evaluations.  If you are not registered and have not paid online you cannot attend these evaluations.  Playing up in age or down in age is not allowed for many reasons, insurance, fairness to players in the correct age, fairness to coaches, etc.  For those younger children who don't attend this evaluation for their correct age group, they will be placed on a home league team. EXAMPLE: If your son turned 12 years old on August 1st he should try out for the 12 year old team.  If your son turns 12 years old on August 2nd or later, he should play on the 11 year old team.
